Day 139

Bad mom award goes to me again. No pictures.  J snuck in my bed again last night and I had to quietly get ready with Hadley this am while J slept soundly in my bed. We snuck downstairs and cranky J woke up just as I was leaving for work.  There was a formula rep dinner at The Chart House (a very nice restaurant on the riverfront) so when I got home the kids were in bed. So, I guess we will do throwback thursday a day early this week!

These photos are from June and July 2007. We were just finishing our second year of medical school. We had studied very, very hard for the USMLE Step 1... which is the first very expensive test of many to take to start the path of becoming a certified physician. I got the call while I was at Starbucks  (our favorite place to study) that my sister Krystal's amniotic fluid levels were low and they were admitting her to the hospital. I jumped in my car and drove there right away. I'm so glad I did. Rylie Kate was born the next morning, June 9th, via c-section. It was the last day I saw my dad. After her birth we went out to lunch - I had to head back to Richmond to keep studying. I wish I would have stayed longer.
He was such a proud papa.

He took this picture of me =)

So, why these pics you ask? I thought I loved Stuart. Our relationship wasn't perfect. But over the course of those few weeks, I finally knew that he was the one. I received the call of dads unexpected passing just 3 weeks later when we were on the way home from mexico (we took a much needed vacation with friends). Talk about a long plane ride. Then they lost my luggage. I couldn't have done it without him. He was there for me like no one had ever been before.

One thing that really made my heart melt was how well he took to Rylie. She was such a small baby but he rocked her, fed her, and wore that diaper bag proudly during those very busy days. I knew he was going to make a great father.

And then he even played the cello for mom for her bday.

Such a natural

Gosh, I love him!

Ok, fast forward a bit...
she just can't get enough of him!

He was pretty hungover in this picture. But Rylie was just loving it. I think this is the time that he threw up before boarding the plane home?

We are so thankful for him and can't wait to have him home!
