We survived the deployment, now just trying to survive toddlerhood...

Day 37

Counting my blessings today.

Met new neighbors up the street who helped me shovel my driveway. Hadley didn't puke today. For Jody and Regina, who took Jackson sledding, helped with my driveway, and had us over for dinner. Our awesome neighborhood who put on the Cookies with Santa event today (even though J wanted absolutely nothing to do with Santa).  My sweet Stuart for being the best husband ever and totally killing me at reading The 5 Love Languages. And I got to start my day by face timing with Mary, Grant and sweet Fynn and William.

And here are your pictures. Yes, there are a lot. Still haven't got that perfect photo for the Christmas card... I'm thinking a collage will do =)

Day 36 - Snow/Sick day

From the pictures you sure couldn't tell that she isn't feeling well. Hadley was up vomiting from about 4-6 this am. Changed the sheets, my clothes, her clothes. It was a hot mess. Throw into the mix that jackson ended up in my bed and the whole debacle woke him up too. Then he wouldn't even let her come into our bed! Ahhhh!  She seemed to be acting ok when she got up this morning.. but just didn't want to drink, or pee. Around 230 the vomiting returned. Yuck. Its 5pm and she's sleeping... and Im praying for a wet diaper and no more vomiting! Come on Zofran (the wonder drug) ... you can do it for me =)

What shall we fix now?

She's so long she is outgrowing all of her clothes!

That was a little before he dropped on a toy on my head. Ouch.

In between changing clothes... but she is fascinated by the fireplace...even when its not on!

My sweet baby girl. Wish she felt better!

And for our snow pictures...
12pm

4pm

Almost 6pm... and still falling

If H is feeling better tomorrow then hopefully we can go out and get some pics outside! I just paid the end of the year HOA fee. My roads are still not plowed. Ugh! Im thinking about writing a nasty letter. Wish I hadn't sent the bill in yet and could have attached it with my check. I posted on our Facebook page and apparently our fees only cover snow removal from the clubhouse parking lot. Since tomorrow is Cookies with Santa, neighbors requested that the county plow our roads. Haha. Neighbors keep posting that their roads are plowed... but I guess ours just didn't make the cut.

Btw, H finally peed. She took a 1 oz bottle and then a 3oz bottle before bed. Making a whopping grand total of 12 oz today. No more vomiting. Lets all pray that its gone for good and she sleeps better tonight.

I can't remember if I wrote about this earlier or not, but Flu is here y'all! Get your shots if you haven't already! Tell your friends and family!

Stu says he has nothing to add. He does the same thing every day... but personally I think today was a little different.... He gave a lecture to his counterparts on chest pain. He designed a patch for his uniform. He watched a movie (same old, same old). He helped another team unload the plane from Germany. He had steak and shrimp for dinner (but says it wasn't good and was overcooked) and an omelet for breakfast. Fun times in Bagram.

Day 35

This is getting old. I miss Stu. I hate having to do everything by myself. I miss all the little things he used to do. I fussed so much about him not helping me... but dang he really did a lot.

Yesterday it was 63 degrees. This morning it was in the 50s and raining. Currently its 39 degrees and we're under a winter storm warning.  Freezing rain, sleet, ice accumulations and then 4-7 inches of snow. Awesome.  Luckily, I was told not to worry about coming to work tomorrow. We actually were able to reschedule all of the patients.  The other Drs will come in (if they can make it) for those patients who really need them. For this, I am grateful.

I still spent my lunch break trying to find those things to put behind your car tires. You see, our garage is a mess. An organized mess.  The jeep fits nicely, but poor Stus car just doesn't make the cut.  My neighbors car slid down their driveway one year, so I certainly didn't want that happening. Not that I care about Stus car, but definitely don't want it damaging anything else! So, Lowes was a failure. No one wanted to help me, or offer other suggestions. Home Depot, even bigger failure. I even asked if someone could get me some wood blocks or something - nope. No one even offered any advice. I even played the my husband is deployed card. Didn't work. I left angry, and without anything for my car! Ugh. Atleast Stu had already hooked me up with salt for the driveway. Pretty sure that was on one of the many pre-deployment checklists, lol. The driveway is now salted, and by some miracle I was able to shift things around to get his car in the garage. Even more importantly, I successfully (after one small almost incident) backed the Jeep in the garage. I am very proud of myself.

Now, for the exciting news - I won't have to worry about difficulty backing up in the near future.... Stu bought us a new car!!!!! We are finally going to own a car with automatic locks and even a backup camera! Praise Jesus! We debated between the Explorer and Durango. While I felt more comfortable driving the explorer, the Durango was really much nicer. I think we will be pleasantly surprised with the final product. He gets super good deals over there and we got to custom order! Its definitely not top of the line... but much nicer than what we are used to driving!

I didn't take any pictures again today. I can barely think straight after being on call, Hadley still waking up at night, Jackson sleeping in my bed, and working. Luckily, Karissa did! Here ya go...

Hadley is trying out the cup

And chewing on anything she can...

J watching his new favorite show, Paw patrols

Hadleys reaction to yogurt melts

Typical dinner craziness around here....

Back in Bagram...

Stu looks so much better these days!

His days continue to be spent working out, hanging out, and eating. lol.

Day 34

This is the absolute last thing I want to be doing today. I didn't take pictures, but I have some from my nanny. I have a migraine. The kids fought bedtime. We are alive. Stu is safe. That is all.  I will post tomorrow.

Day 33

Hadley had a perfect check up today! 16 lbs 4 oz and 27 inches! She's growing like a weed! She is still spitting up all over the place... but I guess she's what we call "A happy spitter!"

Jackson was pretty well behaved at the doctors so he got to "turn it"!

We went to the aquarium, as promised! Its so hard to keep up with J there but I tried to catch a few pictures =)

This afternoon it felt pretty nice outside... so out we went!

Forgive the blurriness... but he won't sit still and it was on my phone!

And finally, today Bob was hanging out in Js stocking
J was a little on the naughty side this evening when Jacob and Justin came over to play. Hopefully tomorrow will be better!

Hadley was exhausted and went to bed early tonight. Guess I was sleepy too. Definitely pulled a Stuart and fell asleep feeding her! Oops! Guess it will be an early night for all of us... its off to work for me tomorrow!

Day 32

2 hours and 465 dollars later we got the oil changed this morning! I can't even remember what was wrong with the car, something that deals with the suspension and alignment... but we have a new one and newly rotated tires and fresh oil! The kids survived, barely. I definitely wasn't prepared to be there that long. Hadley ate and fell asleep while we were there!

We even made it to Target after that. Of course I was so frazzled that I forgot half of the stuff I went for! Oops! Better luck next time =)

Hadley has her 6 month check up tomorrow! Maybe if the kids are behaving we can try and do something fun afterwards =)

She is growing up so fast!

Bob's hanging out in the tree today...

Stu spent another day doing a whole lot of nothing.  None of the other teams has flown since his return from Germany, so he is #3 in line for the next mission. He watched 2 movies, worked out, and got the smallpox (i think?) vaccine today. Apparently he's down 7 lbs. Not good, as I am up 2 or 3. ha. The new year must bring a new me =)

All 4 of us were able to face time tonight!!!!  Hadley is babbling up a storm and even says "dadada" even though she has no idea what she's saying! Too cute!!!

Day 31

Im sure most of you saw this picture on Facebook. Goodness gracious, who is this man??? I have proof that the mustache is gone... but Im not sure which picture is scarier... so Ill have to get him to send another =)

He spent another boring, lazy day on base. At least the internet seemed to be working for most of the day and he was able to text! We even got to face time tonight... and praise the lord my Stu is back and the mustache is gone =)

Krystals boyriend Billy cooked us a yummy breakfast this morning. I guess it just sent me into a food coma because I was so tired all day. We just hung out and tried to catch up on laundry.  J was able to play with the boys this evening and then we had dinner next door.

And for our pictures....

I actually took these pics of the kids last night. I thought it was cute that J was cuddling with his daddy doll. Please pay no attention to the fact that he is in my bed.

Had to get Miss H sleeping too! She just had her blankie, daddy was protecting her on the other side of the crib =)

Hadley's army crawl is in full effect.  She managed to find her way into the kitchen today and most importantly.... found the cool lights on the Christmas tree. As you can see, thank goodness there are no ornaments down low or else they would be in her mouth!

Meet the newest member of our family, Bob the Elf. Or, as Jackson sometimes calls him, Bob the Builder Elf. haha. J has been naughty today. We talked about Santa and Christmas a lot today. Here is Jacksons list:

  1. Firetruck
  2. Bath toys (as if he doesn't have enough?!)
  3. Candy
  4. Shooter toys (thanks boys for all your cool nerf guns)
  5. More firetrucks
  6. More candy
Guess we will just have to see if his bad behavior persists...
